We were recently contacted by the folks over at The Eveleigh Restaurant in Los Angeles to consult with them about misting their very large patio.
This upscale, hip gastropub was touted by Los Angeles Magazine for “….the megasize patio with the cityscape view is the place to be……”. Understandably, they wanted a solution that would cool down diners but not distract form the unique look and feel of their beautiful patio.
Because the patio is semi-enclosed we knew standard line mist would not be effective, so that brings us to a misting fan solution. We have many styles of fans available, but the owners were concerned with anything looking too industrial or “new”.
We found a fan that was stylistically going to work well, but it was new. So how do you make something new look old? With a lot of creativity. We went to work to find a solution to the too “new” shiny metal fan.
Through some internet research (Thank you Pinterest!), we found a product that uses a two-step process to age metal. Modern Masters Iron paint and Activator.
The misting fans definitely look old now! Up close, they are not very pretty, but hung up high in the patio the aged look is exactly what the customers wanted.
